國史館為提供國史研究論文之發表園地，促進學術成果交流，特發行《國史館館刊》，收錄與中華民國史、臺灣史相關之學術論文、研究討論、研究概況及書評。本刊最早可溯自1947年在南京創刊，1987年1月在臺復刊；2001年12月，為提升國史館學術研究水準，將復刊中之研究論文與書評另行刊載，出版《國史館學術集刊》，自第1期至第6期為半年刊，第7期改為季刊，迄2008年12月共達18期，為本館代表性之學術刊物。後為加強國史研究之傳統，自2009年3月起，復將《國史館學術集刊》改回原刊名《國史館館刊》，並接續期別，自第19期起繼續以學術季刊形式發行至今。2012年起，經科技部審查通過，收錄為「臺灣人文及社會科學期刊引文索引核心期刊」。

In order to provide a venue for the publication of research papers on national history and to promote the exchange of academic findings, Academia Historica publishes the Bulletin of Academia Historica (《國史館館刊》), which features research papers, critical essays on particular areas of scholarship, research surveys, and book reviews relating to the history of the Republic of China and the history of Taiwan.
The journal traces its origins to 1947, when it was first launched in Nanjing, and was revived in Taiwan in January 1987 under the title Academia Historica Journal. In December 2001, in order to raise the standard of academic research at Academia Historica, the research papers and book reviews carried in the revived Academia Historica Journal were published separately as a new journal, 《國史館學術集刊》 (also rendered in English as the Bulletin of Academia Historica). It appeared as a semiannual from Issue 1 through Issue 6, became a quarterly from Issue 7, and reached a total of 18 issues by December 2008, establishing itself as the institution's flagship academic publication.
Subsequently, in order to strengthen the tradition of national history research, the journal reverted to its original title, 《國史館館刊》 (likewise rendered Bulletin of Academia Historica), in March 2009. Continuing the existing issue numbering, it has been published as an academic quarterly from Issue 19 to the present day. Since 2012, having passed review by the Ministry of Science and Technology, it has been included among the core journals of the Taiwan Citation Index - Humanities and Social Sciences (THCI).
