Academia Historica Collections Online System

Academia Historica holds an extensive collection of archives and artifacts, sourced from both government bodies and private donors. Highlights include the renowned Daxi Archives, a trove of documents collected by aides to former President Chiang Kai-shek, as well as the personal diaries of Chiang Kai-shek and Chiang Ching-kuo, alongside early government records from agencies such as the National Resources Commission and the Council of Agriculture. These materials serve as vital documentation of Taiwan’s social and economic development.

Some of the archival records and artifacts with cultural heritage value are designated as national treasures or significant antiquities in accordance with the Cultural Heritage Preservation Act. Examples of designated national treasures include the Constitution of the Republic of China, the Japanese Instrument of Surrender, the Act of Surrender—China Theatre, and the Seal of the President. The Instrument of Surrender of the Japanese Forces in Hong Kong on September 16th, 1945, and the Stamp of the President are declared significant antiquities.

In line with the open government policy, Academia Historica established the “Academia Historica Collections Online System” (https://ahonline.drnh.gov.tw) to facilitate public access. Users can first use the system to search for specific records and artifacts. They can then use the locator information provided by the system to directly view any records that are available for online access, or submit an online application for onsite access and proceed to the Taipei Branch digital archives reading room or the original archives inspection room at the Xindian Branch to view archives.
